Weekend Plan

Here is the general shape of the weekend so you can plan travel. Exact times are still being finalized.

Friday, September 11

Cocktail Hour & Bites

An informal evening to welcome everyone and spend time together before the wedding day.

Saturday, September 12

Main Wedding Celebration

The wedding will be in San Bernardino, with the main celebration planned for Saturday afternoon into the night.

Sunday, September 13

Slow Morning

The celebration may continue into Sunday morning, so very early departures may be difficult.

What The Trip Could Look Like

There are a few ways to make the weekend work, depending on how much time you can take and how much breathing room you want after traveling.

The shortest realistic trip is arriving Friday, September 11 and leaving Sunday night or Monday, September 14. If you want the least stressful version, we recommend arriving Thursday, September 10 and leaving Monday.

Shortest realistic trip

Friday to Sunday Night

Arrive Friday, September 11, join part or all of the welcome evening depending on your flight, celebrate with us on Saturday, and depart Sunday night or Monday. A Sunday departure can work if your flight is later in the day, but Monday will likely feel more comfortable after the wedding.

Easier trip

Thursday to Monday

Arrive Thursday, September 10, settle in without rushing, enjoy Friday, celebrate Saturday, use Sunday to relax or explore, and depart Monday.

Stay a little longer

Come earlier or stay later to spend time in Asunción, San Bernardino, or elsewhere in Paraguay. We are happy to share ideas once we know who is thinking of coming.

Before You Book

If you know you’re definitely coming, it’s a good time to start looking at flights and lodging. If you’re still deciding, your best current sense is enough. Early responses help us plan lodging, transportation, and weekend details thoughtfully.

Things to check early

  • Your passport expiration date
  • Whether your itinerary arrives the same day or the next day
  • Whether your flight has long layovers or overnight travel
  • Whether you would prefer to stay near the wedding or in Asunción
  • Whether you may want group transportation or lodging help

Getting There

Guests should plan to fly into Asunción, Paraguay, airport code ASU.

Where Is Everything?

Paraguay is in South America, bordered by Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Asunción is the capital city and the main airport. San Bernardino is a lake town about an hour from Asunción, depending on traffic, and that is where the wedding will be.

Most U.S. guests should expect an international travel day with at least one connection. Depending on your route, your trip may include an overnight flight, a long layover, or a next-day arrival.

The shortest realistic trip is arriving on Friday, September 11 and leaving Sunday night or Monday, September 14. If you want the least stressful version, we recommend arriving on Thursday, September 10 and leaving Monday.

If the trip feels possible, we recommend checking flight and lodging options before making any non-refundable plans.

Planning Cost Estimate

We know this is a big trip, so we want to be upfront about the rough per-person cost.

Flights from New York$800–$1,500+
Lodging$50–$200+ per night
Ground transportation$30–$150+
Estimated total$1,200–$2,500+ per person

Planning estimate per person, last updated May 2026. Actual costs may change and may not include passport renewal, travel insurance, excursions, meals outside wedding events, or extra nights.

Where to Stay

Guests will likely stay in either the San Bernardino / Lake area or Asunción, which are about an hour apart depending on traffic. The wedding will be in San Bernardino, but many guests may also want to spend time in Asunción to explore, go out to eat, and be closer to the airport. We’re happy to help organize Airbnbs or hotels for friends who would like to stay together, and we can also share recommendations for anyone who prefers to book their own stay.

  • San Bernardino / Lake area: best for guests who want to be closest to the wedding and the lakehouse.
  • Asunción: best for guests who want more hotel options, restaurants, airport access, and time to explore the city.

Transportation

We are working on transportation options and will make a plan based on where guests are staying.

Uber is available in Paraguay and rideshares can be useful around Asunción and for some local trips. It can also be an option for getting to and from San Bernardino.

Driving is possible, but we generally do not recommend renting a car unless you are comfortable with very defensive city and highway driving.

Possible options may include airport transfer recommendations, private drivers, group vans, wedding-day shuttles, and transportation between Asunción, San Bernardino, and the lakehouse.

Questions You May Have

What airport should I fly into?
Please fly into Asunción, Paraguay — airport code ASU.
What is the shortest realistic trip?
The shortest realistic version is arriving Friday, September 11, joining part or all of the welcome evening depending on your flight, celebrating with us on Saturday, and departing Sunday night or Monday. A Sunday departure can work if your flight is later in the day, but Monday will likely feel more comfortable after the wedding.
Should I arrive Thursday or Friday?
Thursday is the more relaxed option, especially after a long international travel day. Friday can work for a shorter trip, but we recommend checking your flight arrival time carefully so you are not rushing straight from the airport.
Should I leave Sunday or Monday?
Monday is the safer and more comfortable choice. A Sunday departure may work if your flight is later in the day, but very early Sunday travel may be difficult after the wedding.
Where should I stay?
Guests will likely stay in either San Bernardino or Asunción, which are about an hour apart depending on traffic. The wedding is in San Bernardino, but Asunción is worth visiting and may be convenient before or after the wedding. We can help organize Airbnbs or hotels for groups, or share recommendations for guests booking independently.
Will transportation be provided?
We are exploring group transportation, shuttles, and private driver recommendations based on where guests plan to stay. Rideshare can be useful around Asunción and for some local trips, but we will share the best wedding-day transportation plan once we know where guests are staying.
Do I need a passport or visa?
Yes, all international guests will need a valid passport. U.S. citizens do not currently need a tourist visa for short visits to Paraguay, but guests traveling with other passports should check their own requirements. We also recommend considering travel insurance and checking current travel health guidance before you go, especially if your itinerary connects through another country.
Should I book flights now?
If you know you’re definitely coming, yes, it’s a good time to start looking at flights and lodging. If you’re still unsure, compare options before making any non-refundable plans. This interest form helps us understand who is realistically considering the trip.
Can I bring my family or a plus-one?
Final invite details will clarify exactly who is invited. For now, please include anyone in your family or household who may potentially attend when you fill out the interest form so we can plan lodging, transportation, and weekend details.
What should I wear?
Dress code details are still coming. The celebration will be at the lakehouse in San Bernardino and may include outdoor or indoor-outdoor spaces, so we recommend keeping outdoor terrain and warm spring weather in mind when planning shoes and outfits.
When do you need to know?
As soon as you have a realistic sense. This is not a formal RSVP, but early responses help us plan group lodging, airport transfers, and wedding-day transportation.
