Weekend Plan
Here is the general shape of the weekend so you can plan travel. Exact times are still being finalized.
Cocktail Hour & Bites
An informal evening to welcome everyone and spend time together before the wedding day.
Main Wedding Celebration
The wedding will be in San Bernardino, with the main celebration planned for Saturday afternoon into the night.
Slow Morning
The celebration may continue into Sunday morning, so very early departures may be difficult.
What The Trip Could Look Like
There are a few ways to make the weekend work, depending on how much time you can take and how much breathing room you want after traveling.
The shortest realistic trip is arriving Friday, September 11 and leaving Sunday night or Monday, September 14. If you want the least stressful version, we recommend arriving Thursday, September 10 and leaving Monday.
Friday to Sunday Night
Arrive Friday, September 11, join part or all of the welcome evening depending on your flight, celebrate with us on Saturday, and depart Sunday night or Monday. A Sunday departure can work if your flight is later in the day, but Monday will likely feel more comfortable after the wedding.
Thursday to Monday
Arrive Thursday, September 10, settle in without rushing, enjoy Friday, celebrate Saturday, use Sunday to relax or explore, and depart Monday.
Stay a little longer
Come earlier or stay later to spend time in Asunción, San Bernardino, or elsewhere in Paraguay. We are happy to share ideas once we know who is thinking of coming.
Before You Book
If you know you’re definitely coming, it’s a good time to start looking at flights and lodging. If you’re still deciding, your best current sense is enough. Early responses help us plan lodging, transportation, and weekend details thoughtfully.
Things to check early
- Your passport expiration date
- Whether your itinerary arrives the same day or the next day
- Whether your flight has long layovers or overnight travel
- Whether you would prefer to stay near the wedding or in Asunción
- Whether you may want group transportation or lodging help
Getting There
Guests should plan to fly into Asunción, Paraguay, airport code ASU.
Where Is Everything?
Paraguay is in South America, bordered by Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Asunción is the capital city and the main airport. San Bernardino is a lake town about an hour from Asunción, depending on traffic, and that is where the wedding will be.
Most U.S. guests should expect an international travel day with at least one connection. Depending on your route, your trip may include an overnight flight, a long layover, or a next-day arrival.
The shortest realistic trip is arriving on Friday, September 11 and leaving Sunday night or Monday, September 14. If you want the least stressful version, we recommend arriving on Thursday, September 10 and leaving Monday.
If the trip feels possible, we recommend checking flight and lodging options before making any non-refundable plans.
Planning Cost Estimate
We know this is a big trip, so we want to be upfront about the rough per-person cost.
| Flights from New York | $800–$1,500+ |
| Lodging | $50–$200+ per night |
| Ground transportation | $30–$150+ |
| Estimated total | $1,200–$2,500+ per person |

Where to Stay
Guests will likely stay in either the San Bernardino / Lake area or Asunción, which are about an hour apart depending on traffic. The wedding will be in San Bernardino, but many guests may also want to spend time in Asunción to explore, go out to eat, and be closer to the airport. We’re happy to help organize Airbnbs or hotels for friends who would like to stay together, and we can also share recommendations for anyone who prefers to book their own stay.
- San Bernardino / Lake area: best for guests who want to be closest to the wedding and the lakehouse.
- Asunción: best for guests who want more hotel options, restaurants, airport access, and time to explore the city.
Transportation
We are working on transportation options and will make a plan based on where guests are staying.
Uber is available in Paraguay and rideshares can be useful around Asunción and for some local trips. It can also be an option for getting to and from San Bernardino.
Driving is possible, but we generally do not recommend renting a car unless you are comfortable with very defensive city and highway driving.
Possible options may include airport transfer recommendations, private drivers, group vans, wedding-day shuttles, and transportation between Asunción, San Bernardino, and the lakehouse.
